Latest Bunglow Project Nov 2011

This is a very small bunglow project which we just finished designing. The plot was very long and the idea was to have a house around the courtyard since a well already exists in the  middle of the plot. The total area was supposed to be divided into family area which is primarily on the ground floor and the private areas, i.e. the bedroom's which are on the upper floor. The house is very efficient in terms of its usage of space since only once streamlined axial movement space is left. This space double's up for the central courtyard, the staircase, the passage

Adventuring with Home Plans in India

In India a house around a courtyard will be a preferred option of residence rather than an apartment in a residential building. Times have changed along with which the construction industry but we still like the idea of an individual house of two floors or three with either a joint or a nuclear family. Fortunately we still enjoy having open spaces, gardens; descent infrastructure is cities other than the metros where we possibly can still build individual homes. Even though the plot sizes may not be very big in scale but a lot can be done to design a modern looking home along with keeping to the traditional living outlook and convenience of use.

The plots can be a corner plot or a very long and narrow lot or it may even be a square in shape. With each plot the level of concern and issues remain the same but the issue of getting the right home plans lies in the beauty of designing the house. Now most commonly the burden of it falls on the owner and the contractor who executes the work. Mostly the owner tries to get help and some vision through family and friends or maybe from books or internet which does helps in assembling the initial thoughts. Usually this exercise does leave few gaps in the thought process in terms of the family’s requirements or in the actual construction process.

Following these common scenarios faced by most of the plot owners who intend to build there won house lead us to adventure in this section to share our home designs & plans, understanding, thoughts, vision and clear perspectives before we actual build the house.  Our website HomePlansIndia.com shares around 27 of our ready to use home designs which are very modern in there outlook but they may be used for plots in Indian cities. INTERIOR VIEWS OF A SMALL LIVING ROOM

Apartment buildings are too much fun since they have a very limited usable space  for the owner and it becomes very tricky to fit in most of the requirements and still give a feel a openness is a difficult task. Although there are limitations of the floor height being 10' which practically leaves very little space to work with any kind of false ceiling, so the idea of part projections and depressions adds that slight hint of depth into the space. So her we share one of our ongoing interior design job for an apartment flat in Bangalore, India. 

We don't like to clutter the space with lot of furniture and accessories so very few of them are part of this layout with an arrangement which translates itself into giving a feel of an open huge space which meets the  sky outside the balcony.The overall scheme has been into Wooden flooring, whitish sofa and furniture along with few wooden furniture or so. Handmade lights will do all the possible trick to add that personalized touch to this house. After all a house is very personal.....

Modular Book Shelf for Children's Library

These modular book shelf's are customized for a Children's Library. Since each of the module is not fixed to the other so there can be multiple option of stacking them which practically provide the facility of transforming the space with same furniture. The colors are vibrant enough to add interest to the space for children.

In this arrangement only two of the boxes are used to create the shelf which is more child friendly in terms of accessing the books. These same boxes are sturdy enough to take the load of a child also.

Few new Family House Designs

I took me lot of time to get over the idea of designing houses which are not in straight lines, with very strong bold lines, clear identity, charm with the first glance, etc....etc. But since I seem to have coped with the first shocks of designing a house with sloping roof, tiles/ shingles on top, arches like those Mediterranean houses, plants and trees around the house to give it a very Moroccan look, so here I share those few  of my designs. I hope they do get assimilated soon with the rest of the designs I have ever done.

Children's Library, Mumbai

Recently we got to know about a group of people who were not a NGO but they were trying to figure out a place for opening a children's Library. The idea sounded pretty good, but the execution of it was not as great as it was expected. Usual issues of getting a place which belonged to BMC was not that easy a task. Although it did go through a process of meetings and discussions to finalize, but as of now we propose to have a place like this.........
